Update, all is well.

Eating around 12 eggs per day, 3 eggs, 4 times a day. Feeling good, my clothes are starting to fit again, going down in weight….In control again. Life has been insanely busy…I will try to update again soon.

Answers

Some people have been asking why I am following a mono-diet. It is not because I want to only eat eggs. However I have experimented a lot with food over the years. I used to be morbidly obese and over 300 pounds…I also have been at a very fit healthy 140-something. The issue that is always the same is I am a sugar addict to an insane degree. 

Eggs seem to do something for me that nothing else can do while I am getting off the sugar. When I am back on sugar my life is a nightmare. Even a little bit of processed sugar or highly processed carb and I am in a binging cycle. The egg diet puts me back into control. (I tried fish, veggies, chicken, turkey, steak, avocados, and almonds too…but eggs seem to work best) This time I am doing it 21 days again. However I do plan to listen to my body. 

Also, I am not doing it for the quick weight loss. The quick weight loss was a happy side effect of the experiment. I am doing it to be able to actually eat but not binge and feel good. 

So I am just finishing up day 5 and I feel so amazing…..not physically yet….I still feel a little tired….but mentally. It is so freeing to be off the sugar roller coaster. I feel like I can move forward in life again. :)

UPDATE

Sorry I left you all hanging for SO long. As you probably figured things did not go so well. While I was traveling I did really really well. I stuck to protein (Eggs, chicken, turkey), veggies, and nuts. I returned home from my week long trip LIGHTER than when I left!

BUT, then I came home. I had been good for so long. My body was feeling great. I was down a few sizes. I wanted to add in some fruit. So I did. When I added the fruit back into my diet I gained a few pounds but nothing major. I felt good and continued eating paleo/primal and exercising 5-6 days a week. (Mix of weights and cardio)

Then one day I was at whole foods and it as free sample day. They were handing out samples of a dried fruit blend and I really wanted it. So I had some. Then I was faced with chocolate chip cookies. I know this was a HUGE error in judgement on my part but they smelled amazing. I was hungry. I wanted one really badly. I figured since it was a small one and I wasn't buying them I could have a little treat. WRONG. I am a sugar addict. I can not have just little bit. It is like an alcoholic taking one small shot. Or a cocaine addict taking one small bump. I can not have pressed sugar. Even the dried fruit was a huge mistake for me. As I ate the cookie I almost could feel the sugar coursing through my veins. It tasted amazing and I felt amazing. I checked out and left whole foods to head home and put away my groceries. I had purchased blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, apples, chicken, fish, eggs, veggies, almonds…ect. I had plenty of food and should have started cooking my dinner. All I could think about was COOKIES! I decided to eat some berries hoping that it may help. Then I ate some almonds. Although I was no longer hungry I still wanted cookies. More than I had since I started the egg fast. It was horrible. I took a shower, changed into my pjs. Did some work on the computer. I STILL WANTED COOKIES. I drank some tea. I laid down in my bed. I tossed, and turned and rationalized. I work so hard. I already ate a cookie and I want more. If I eat a couple tonight I can just get back to paleo/primal tomorrow. It was 11pm. I got up, put on clothes, drove to the store and bought cookies. I then ate them all. 13 chocolate chip cookies in 10 mins and went to bed. The next day sugar cravings were back in full force. It took me SOOOOO much effort to get rid of time and with one fall I was back in the sugar cycle nightmare. The next few months have been cycles of trying really hard but failing over and over again. This took a psychological and physical toll.  I got depressed and gave up.

BUT, now I am back here. I am on day 4 of my eggs. I have been off sugar for 3 days. This is my longest stretch since I messed up. Trying like hell to stay off the sugar for life.

Day 24 egg diet update and the last day on eggs!


I had to unexpectedly go out of town for work today but yesterday was 10 eggs and down another .5 of a pound. I had eggs all day today. I bought pre-hard boiled from trader joes. However I do not have my scale here so I am not going to be sure about my weight again until I get home sunday August 4th. Continue you on eggs? Or eat primal and low sugar and hope for the best???

Egg Diet Day 23 Update

There isn't much to update. Down another pound! Yay! Feeling really good mentally and physically. I ate 15 hard boiled eggs yesterday. I walked 5 miles and did some squats, lunges and shoulder weights. Including today only two days left of eggs and then the real adventure begins....seeing if I can continue on a healthy path and keep this weight off. Thanks for reading! <3

Egg Diet Update Day 22


I was extra hungry so I ended up eating 15 eggs yesterday but I woke up this morning a pound down! I did 3 sets of 50 kettle bells swings and a 3 mile walk with the hubby. Also, lots of house work. 3 more egg diets left. I am pretty excited that it looks like I will make it to 169 which is what I hoped for. I have made a menu for August 1st. Let me know what you think. I am so curious to see if I bounce up. I feel so much leaner....I hope its real.

Egg Diet Update Day 21


Today was supposed to be the end of the experiment. I extended it until the end of the month because I messed up and ate tons of sugar on day 13. Including today only 4 more days of eggs. Yesterday I ate 12 eggs, all hard boiled, dipped in hot sauce. I had a really busy day so it was easy to only eat when I was hungry. No exercise but lots of errands and walking. I don't think I drank enough water because I was out and about all day. I tried to drink extra when I got home but ended up at about half of what I usually drink. Not sure if that will affect me at all. Down another pound!! Strangely the things I look forward to eating the most on August 1st when this is over is my hubby's grilled grass fed steak, some veggies and an apple. Those foods sound the most appealing and luckily they are healthy and shouldn't cause a rebound. (I hope!) My biggest battle will just be staying away from any processed junk or sugar that isn't fruit. It is pretty easy for me to eat well at home. It social engagements and traveling that gets me. However I am very dedicated to figuring out what works for me so I can stay healthy and continue to keep my weight headed in the right direction. Non scale victory: I can fit into all my size 8 dresses and all my size 10 pants again! YAY!!!!!
